Lignum swamp in Lake Bindegolly National Park, western Queensland, Australia. The usually gaunt and leafless lignum bushes (Muehlenbeckia cunninghamii), characteristic of intermittently flooded freshwater wetlands of the interior, are green and flowering following flooding by summer storms. The bushes form a scrub or closed scrub, providing nesting habitat for waterbirds during the brief period of plenty.
