Rosy periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus). Found in Madagascar, rosy periwinkle has been in the past used for curing sore throats, pleurisy, dysentery, and diabetes. In the 1950s, scientists experimented with rosy periwinkles to develop a cure for diabetes, and found a cancer cure instead. The risk of death from childhoold leukemia has decreased significantly because of the rosy periwinkle.
