An open single Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula). The Venus flytrap is native to bog habitats in North and South Carolina. Exhibiting rapid movement, it ensnares prey, usually flies, that touch the trichomes or trigger hairs on the inner surfaces of the lobes.
