Coconilla, Solanum stramonifolium, is a tropical plant grown for its edible fruit. Like the tomato and potato, it is a member of nightshade family. Thought to have originated in the West Indies, it is now widely grown in Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia. The fruit is sometimes used medicinally, and is also called bolo maka and burra burra. Photo: Iquitos, Peru.
