Catnip; Nepeta catarina. Native to southern and eastern Europe, the Middle East, central Asia, and parts of China but widely naturalized in northern Europe, New Zealand, North America. The leaves are soft-hairy and aromatic. In addition to attracting cats, this plant was formerly used to treat colic in infants. Photo Custer State Park; Black Hills, South Dakota.
