Mummy of an Egyptian woman dating from the 18th or 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom (ca. 1570 - 1075 BC). After the body was cleansed with a solution of natron (sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate), the internal organs were removed and preserved in canopic jars. The body was then dried by using dry natron for 40 days and then preserved with oils before finally being wrapped in yards of linen strips and placed in a sarcophagus and entombed. This mummy is at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.
