The protozoan propels itself through the water by beating the long, thin flagella around its body. It feeds by engulfing tiny wood particles. The protozoan has a symbiotic relationship with its insect host. It helps to break down the wood that the insect eats, in return receiving shelter within its body and a regular supply of chewed wood. The protozoan passes out of the insect's body as cysts in feces which are ingested by other woodroaches to maintain the population of protozoa in their own gut. Magnification unknown.
