Pumpkin with the gray mold (Botrytis cinerea), a pathogenic plant fungus found in more than two-hundred thirty recognized host plant species. Upon invading the host plant via wounds or via cuticle and epidermis, the fungus quickly kills the infected cells, and colonizes the dead plant tissue. Spores of the fungus are dispersed by wind and rain and can cause damage to flowers, vegetables, and fruits.
