A three-dimensional architecture has been designed and constructed from molecular building blocks. The hydrogen atom (light blue) of a bifluoride anion couples together copper(II) cations (red) through very strong hydrogen bonds and provides a means to align the spin of the unpaired electrons on adjacent copper centers.
