An analyst at the Maryland Forensic Science Division (FSD) laboratory fires a weapon into a bullet recovery system. The recovery system consists of a metal tank filled with water and allows for the retrieval of the undamaged bullet for later analysis. The analysis can determine, through rifle markings on the bullet, if a particular gun fired a bullet found at a crime scene. The red mesh net captures the bullet casing as it is ejected so it too can be analyzed for unique markings.
