Manganese (II) carbonate decomposition. Manganese (II) carbonate (MnCO3, pale pink) in a test tube is heated by the flame from a propane Bunsen burner. It decomposes into manganese (II) oxide (MnO, dark green) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2): MnCO3 -> MnO + CO2.
