Every 11 years the Sun goes through a Magnetic Pole reversal, were the magnetic forces change or flip polarity. The Sun's Magnetic force flow is always North to south, but the the polarity changes, so the North becomes South and vise-versa. The latest reversal took place over the past year (late 2012, pictured on the left, to late 2013, pictured on the right).
