Wild Turkey - male (Meleagris gallopavo). New York , USA. Widespread in the U.S. and Mexico, reintroduced in much of former range. Largest gamebird in North America. Birds of the open forest, forage mostly on the ground for seeds, nuts, acorns, insects. Females and immatures smaller and duller than males. Roost in trees at night, found in flocks of up to 60 birds. Males give decending gobble during springtime displays.
