George V was born in 1865, the second son of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. He became heir to the throne after the death of his elder brother, Albert Victor. He reigned through a turbulent time in British history and strengthened the image of the Royal family through his work during World War I. He died in 1936, one year after his Silver Jubilee.
