View of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery (Lavra), St Petersburg, Russia. It was founded by Peter the Great in 1710 at the eastern end of the Nevski Prospekt to house the relics of Alexander Nevsky, patron saint of the newly-founded Russian capital. The monastery premises contain two churches, a cathedral, smaller structures, and two cemeteries.
