The Duchess of Argyll (1912 - 1993), previously Miss Margaret Whigham and then Mrs Charles Sweeny, pictured in the dress she wore for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey in 1953. The sheath-like, silver lame dress, encrusted with silver crystal and diamante embroidery was made for her by Victor Stiebel. Over it she wears the traditional peeress's robe of pure silk velvet banded with ermine.
