Charlotte Marsh, one of the leading figures in the suffragette movement. A promininent member of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), she was arrested several times, and was one of the first suffragettes to be forcibly fed in prison when she went on hunger strike. Critical of the way that Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst were running the WSPU, she set up the Independent WSPU in March 1916
