'In Gorizia we are! To Trento and Trieste, we're going..' Italian patriotic postcard from World War One urging Italy to rise up and reclaim Trieste and Trento (having already captured Gorizia), cities with ethnic Italian majorities still belonging to the Austrians. These towns became icons of the Italian irredentist movement, aimed at the unification of all ethnically Italian peoples. This card is fascinating, as it was printed and sent following the re-integration of Gorizia during the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo on August 1916, but before the re-capturing of the town by the Central Powers in October 1917.
