Entertainments at Southport, Merseyside including Hiram Maxim's "Captive Flying Machine" amusement ride (which opened in 1904), helter skelter lighthouse, figure of eight railway and water chute. Testament to the design, the Blackpool version of Maxim's ride still operates to this day, the oldest operating amusement ride in Europe!
