An unfortunate pilot is thrown out of his plane by creatures fllying around the 'air jungle', the product of the imagination of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote of strange monsters, living in a jungle of the air 40,000 feet above the earth in a story originally entitled, 'Horror of the Heights'. The story was first published in The Strand magazine in 1913 at a time when flight was still in its early stages and the perils of the upper air were unknown. The story was adapted for a book entitled, Flights into the Future, about space exploration, written for children during the 1940s.
