Memorial to Lieutenant Gaston de Gironde, commanding the 2nd Squadron 16th Dragoons, who on Sept 10th 1914 was killed in a night charge against a squadron of German aircraft parked in the fields here. The French destroyed 8 aircraft but Gironde was hit by a machine gun and died of his wounds.
