It was commisioned from the Staffordshire Pottery firm of H.M Williamson for use in the tea room at the Women's Exhibition held at the Prince's Skating Rink, Knightsbridge, May 1909. The design comprises the 'angel of freedom' motif in purple and green against the simple white background. The teapot has a green finial and handle, the rims of the other pieces are also in green. The 'angel' figure was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst specifically for the Women's Exhibition.
