WW1 - The new extra-sized German fighter biplane shown making its debut in the war. It was nicknamed 'Fritz' by the British. Illustrated here in first flight, it was fought and driven off after apparently having been hit by a British aeroplane. It had double-fuselage, two engines, two propellers, plus a central armoured-car with machine-guns. It was manned by two gunners and the pilot. The action took place over Poelcapelle, in West Flanders.
