Gwen Aldin, daughter of the artist Cecil Aldin, pictured with one of her charges at an Army Remount Depot during the First World War. Her father, who was a keen huntsman, was the Remount Officer for the Berkshire area. He was instrumental in employing women at army remount depots to work as stable hands.
