WW1 - Lieutenant William Leefe Robinson (1895-1918), awarded the Victoria Cross , the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces, for destroying a German Airship (Schutte-Lanz SL 11), flying a converted B.E.2c night fighter No. 2693 over Cuffley, Hertfordshire on 3rd September 1916.
