The earliest known carved heads in Syria, found at Tell Brak. This page from the Illustrated London News in May 1939, reporting on excavations at Brak, shows a carved head possibly representing a god, goddess or worshipper. Also shown are two limestone mace heads, a mosaic of clay cones, and two more carved heads.
