Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales.??”Now we can sit down and rest, and feast our eyes on the wondrous scenery on all sides. Here we are at an altitude of 3,571 feet. Far to the north-west is seen Anglesey, with the sea beyond ; to the North, Great Orme's head in the distance, and nearer the mountains of North Wales scattered in strange confusion, like so many mounds, with the Glyders close at our side??”two mighty sentinels. All round are seen little silvery mountain tarns while far to the South, Cader Idris may just be distinguished. The summit itself, is of very small extent, the centre occupied by a earn of rough stones built years ago by the ordinance survey people, a couple of wooden huts or Hotels occupy nearly all the remaining space, and as a railway is in course of construction from Llanberis, it is proposed to build a more substantial Hotel to enable visitors to make a more comfortable stay than the present wooden houses afford.
