Southern cavefish, Typhlichthys subterraneus. It's an endemic species to karst regions of the eastern USA. Lives in underground water courses and feeds on small insects that also live in the caves. It has a very low metabolism to be able to survive with a scarce diet. The subterranean waters where the cavefish is found is divided by the Mississippi River. Incubates eggs in the gill chamber of the females. Aquarium photography.
