Wineland shared the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics for experimental work on ion traps. Cornell shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001 for his work on Bose-Einstein condensates. Phillips shared the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on laser cooling of atoms.
