'Mina Moiseyev', 1882, (1939). A Russian peasant painted from life. Ivan Kramskoy (1837-1887) initiated the 'revolt of fourteen' at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts, a reaction against academic art which led to the expulsion of a group of graduates who went on to establish the Artel of Artists, an artists' cooperative commune. Painting in the collection of The State Russian Museum, St Petersburg, Russia. From "The Russian State Museum". [State Art Publishers, Moscow and Leningrad, 1939]
