Tianjin Binhai Cultural Centre; completed 2017; 330 metres long; encloses 5 cultural buildings by international architects created to a masterplan by Architects von Gerkan; Merg and Partners (gmp). In partnership with Tianjin Architectural Design Institute (TADI).Concept is a roofed-over cultural concourse. Inverted umbrella-like structures are a distinctive architectural element and unify the art and cultural buildings.Since 2010 Binhai New Area has been formed from 3 districts into one called Binhai. The Cultural Centre sits in the midst of the districts. The roofed-over cultural concourse functions as the spine of the centre.
