Estonia; island of Saaremaa (German/Swedish: 謘el); S鮮ve peninsula (German: Halbinsel Sworbe); village of S滗re (German: Dorf Zerell): destroyed military structure (bunker) near Sorve lighthouse (Estonian S鮮ve tuletorn). The 52 m high S鮮ve tuletorn (Leuchtturm Sworbe) is the second highest in Estonia. A first lighthouse here on Cape of S滗re (Kap Zerell) was built in 1646; followed by a stone building; in 1650. Further extensions followed in 1770; 1807; and 1863. The lighthssue survived fierce battles; in World War I. In World War II; it was demolished and bombed down. A provisional lighthouse was erected; in 1949. The whole Sorve peninsula was Soviet military area; until 19991; and a forbidden area; too. The Sorve peninsula was action place of fiercest battles during German roll back; in autumn 1944. During the German operation Albion (German: Unternehmen Aster) against Red Army; in October and November; 1944; until German whithdrawal from S鰎ve peninsula (German: also Sworbe); on 24th of November; 1944; thousands of soldiers died. The war museum is on southern most point of Sorve peninsula; at the Cape of S滗re (German: Kap Zerell); where the German imbarking to nearby Kurland mainland took place.
