'P. Rapin', (1661-1725), 1830. Paul de Rapin (1661-1725) French historian writing under English patronage, educated as a Protestant, he became an advocate and joined the army serving in the Williamite Wars, the Battle of the Boyne and was wounded at the Siege of Limerick after which he become tutor to the Earl of Portland's son.
