Ireland; Co. Kerry; Dingle Peninsula: iron age time Dunbeg Fort; built around 800 BC; at Slea Head Drive. The spectacular promontory fort above the shores of Dingle Bay and the Atlantic is situated south of Slea Head and can easily be reched on the 46 km long touristic Slea Head Drive. Nearby; there is a group of cloch醤s; small stone structures; called as well beehive huts; dating back to c. 1000 BC. In January 2014; western wall of the Dunbeg Fort was heavily damaged by a storm and the archeological site was closed to the public. After restauration works the stone fort was closed again in December 2017 and in 2018; due to damages via storms. There is a visitor centre with pub at the street above Dunbeg Fort. Fahan is a place for archeologists; as here have been found up to 3000 artefacts and architectonic structures dating back even to bronze age. The Dunbeg stone fort; irish "An D鷑 Beag"; english: "the little Dun (fortress)" was in use until middle ages.
