X-37B spaceplane preparations for launch, 2010. Also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), this was the first orbital mission of this uncrewed spaceplane, which has been in development since 1999. Known as OTV-1, the flight was officially designated as USA-212. Here, the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle is in the encapsulation cell of the Evolved Expendable Launch vehicle on 5 April 2010, at the Astrotech facility in Titusville, Florida, USA. The launch took place on an Atlas V rocket, with half of the rocket's five-metre fairing visible in the background. The X-37B is operated by the US Air Force. As of 2019, there have been a total of five OTV launches.
