When the full Moon moves into Earth's shadow, the lunar disk gets darker. The red, orange and or brown colour near totality is caused by the Earth's atmosphere, which only lets low frequency light reach the Moon. The higher frequency light, such as blue and green, are absorbed and diffracted by the Earth's atmosphere. This eclipse was captured in September 2015.
