'Foxfire' or 'fairy fire', the bioluminescence resulting from fungi present in decaying wood. The fungi contain the enzyme luciferase that emits light when it reacts with luciferin. The bioluminescence may attract insects to spread spores. Central Caribbean foothills, Costa Rica.
