Portrait of Sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji Jadeja (1872-1933), also known as Ranji, ruler of the Indian princely state of Nawanagar as Maharaja Jam Saheb. He was a noted Test cricketer who played for the English cricket team. At the start of the war he was made an honorary major in the British Army, but as serving Indian princes were not allowed near the fighting by the British because of the risk involved, he did not see active service.
