The site of the pituitary gland is known as the sella turcica. It is a region within the skull just behind the eyes. It consists of the part of the sphenoid bone, and partially encloses the endocrine system's pituitary gland (hypophysis), a key gland that regulates many metabolic processes. Also seen are part of the clinoid processes of the brain.
