Light micrograph section of the human rectum showing both adenoma and papilloma. Two varieties of benign tumour occur in the rectum, the villous papilloma and the adenoma. The villous papilloma is a soft shaggy tumour whereas an adenoma is a compact rounded mass of glandular tissue.
