The mineral Rhodonite is a manganese silicate (Mn2+,Fe2+,Mg,Ca)SiO3) having a triclinic crystal system and belonging to the pyroxene group of minerals. It has a characteristic pinkish-red colour and usually occurs in massive amorphous habitat, but more rarely also as tabular crystals. The pink mass of rhodonite is usually strikingly spotted or veined with black manganese oxide making it attractive as a decorative gemstone. Actual width of sample is 145 mm.
