Nickel II nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O or (Ni(H2O)6)(NO3)2), molar mass 290.79 g/mol. Also known as nickel nitrate, nickelous nitrate, nitric acid and nickel 2+ salt. Nickel nitrate is an inorganic compound and, as it is rarely found in its anhydrous form, nickel nitrate is used to refer to the hexahydrate. The nitrate anions are not bonded to nickel in the hexahydrate. Nickel II nitrate is used in the production of the explosive, nickel hydrazine nitrate.
