Paraceratherium prehistoric mammal mother and young, illustration. This large hornless rhinoceros lived in what is now Eurasia in the Oligocene (34-23 million years ago). It is one of the largest terrestrial animals to have ever lived, measuring nearly 5 metres to the shoulder and weighing 15-20 tonnes.
