Dodo (Raphus cucullatus), illustration. The dodo is an extinct flightless bird that lived in Mauritius. It was endemic to the island and was a large bird, about 1 metre tall. It became extinct due to the arrival of humans in the 17th century. It is shown on a coast with volcanic stones and various tropical plants such as Pandana (screw pine) trees.
