Dust storm over the Canary Islands, satellite image. Sand has blown north-west from the Sahara desert (bottom right) over the Canary Islands (centre). The sand is obscuring the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. During the storm visibility was reduced to tens of metres in some places and air and land travel was disrupted. Image taken on the 22nd February 2020 by NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite.
