At the top of the stairs is a lady in front of a pavilion. The man is the Chinese emperor Gens? (Hs?ang Tsung, 685-762) and the woman his favorite concubine Y?kihi (Yang Kuei-fei, 719-56). Here their encounter in the hereafter is depicted, Y?kihi was executed after she and her family gained too much power. Measure three poems.
