On June 8, 1946, following the London Victory Celebrations at the end of WW 2, King George VI sent this personal message in a letter to all the schoolchildren who, during World War Two, shared the hardships and the dangers of total war on the home front. The National Identity Cards and Rationing Book are examples of the once-essential wartime documents that were necessary for children as well as adults.
