This represents a group of diseases characterised by non-granulomatous inflammation and necrosis of the lymph nodes, caused by a variety of infective and inflammatory diseases. The most common are, Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, acute Epstein Barr viral infection and systemic lupus erythematosus.
