The Old Town end of the King Charles bridge, Prague, Czech Republic, 1943. The building of the bridge over the Vltava began in 1357 during the reign of Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. The bridge is built of stone, 516 metres long, and has 16 arches protected with ice guards. The bridge is flanked by two rows of 15 statues. A print from Signal, Febuary 1943. Signal was a magazine published by the German Third Reich from 1940 through 1945. The artist is unknown.
