Flight controllers, in the Missions Operation Control Room, watching Apollo 13 before before it splashed down in the South Pacific Ocean. Apollo 13 was a lunar landing mission, but an oxygen tank failure on board forced the mission to pass around the moon and return earlier to Earth. The crew transferred to the Command Module for Earth re-entry, splashing down on 17 April 1970. Photographed in the Manned Spaceflight Center, Houston, Texas, USA.
